The wisdom tooth is a residual organ of the human body. In earlier times, a tooth was necessary when man had to chew harder foods. Over the years, these teeth tend not to appear as often in the patients’ mouths, since the person now consumes softer foods. Wisdom teeth when they arise in the mouth sometimes create problems, such as peristephanitis (inflammation of the gums around the wisdom tooth) and sometimes they appear simply like an eighth tooth, without causing any pain or discomfort.

If the wisdom tooth presents periodic or systematic pain symptoms to the patient, its removal is recommended. Extracting wisdomite in a large percentage is not an easy extraction. The dentist will often have to remove bone or tear the gum in order to smoothly remove the tooth from the mouth without breaking the root or leaving any remnant of the tooth in the jaw.

Wisdom extraction requires experience and the appropriate logistical support of the dentist to smoothly remove the tooth from the mouth without complications and pain.
