The patient had an old broken resin filling in the upper left second premolar. After removing the old filling, the tooth was properly prepared to receive an all-ceramic inlay. The reason it was decided to place an inlay rather than a filling was that the tooth gap was large and a new filling would end up breaking again. The tooth was denervated (because the caries reached the level of the nerve of the tooth), ground and an impression was taken, which is sent to the dental technician to make the inlay.
